Gardenia
The beauty of a Gardenia in your garden is always a treat to see and smell. Altho’ they are picky about their placement and surroundings, once you have one growing in the RGV, you’re friends for life!
Gardenias can bloom year round in the Valley, and the plant can be covered with blooms beginning in March thru June. Gardenias prefer a more acidic soil than we generally have down here, but a few coffee grounds sprinkled at the base every now and then should do the trick. ☺ Their beautiful scent is a great butterfly attractor, too!
